About Us

Your side quest in the heart of Budapest

Our Story

SideQuest opened in April 2026, but the venue's story goes back almost a decade. It started life as InGame Bar, welcoming players with VR stations and an esports corner, and it quickly became a gathering spot for game enthusiasts and developers who regularly met there.

In 2023, the venue changed hands and relaunched as Perspective Bar. It took a more traditional turn, building its own identity rather than leaning on video games, while bringing new ways to have fun, like board games, darts, and foosball. Game developers carried on meeting and running events here throughout.

In early 2026, a new partner joined the venture and brought the concept and name you know today. A game developer themselves, who worked on titles like Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption II, they brought video games back while keeping everything that made Perspective great. The cosy atmosphere and brilliant staff stayed exactly as they were, and a new mission took shape: making SideQuest the most memorable and fun place in Budapest. That's our main quest.

Did you know? John Romero, the father of DOOM and other legendary games, was at the opening party of InGame Bar.

The Concept

SideQuest is more than a bar. It's a place to enjoy great drinks and spend a genuinely fun, memorable time.

Our drinks selection is vast, from a great range of beers on tap to some of the best bottled craft beers in Hungary, alongside delicious cocktails, plenty of non-alcoholic options (alcohol-free beers included), and a few low- and no-sugar choices. There are some snacks on the menu, too.

Beyond the bar, you can play with anything you see, for free. Our game stations run indie titles from Hungary and around the world, as well as retro classics on PS1 and PS2. Just grab a controller and play with up to four people on a single screen. Prefer board games? We've got you covered. And the more traditional bar games, like darts and foosball, are here as well.

We're also pretty handy, with both hardware and software. A lot of what you see around was built by us. The launcher on our game stations, for example, is a custom-built piece of software we plan to open-source, and we're currently working on an arcade cabinet running our own game. That's a big part of what SideQuest is about: a creative and technical outlet for us.
