Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of our website and online platform (side-quest.bar), our tournament platform (gg.side-quest.bar), and related services (together, the "Service") operated by Sealman Studio Kft. ("we", "us", "our"), as well as certain features offered at our physical venue in Budapest, Hungary.

By accessing or using the Service, creating an account, or participating in on-site or online features (including arcade games, tournaments, and loyalty programs), you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.

2. Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or participate in loyalty features.
  • By using the Service, you confirm that you have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement under Hungarian law.

3. User Accounts

3.1 Account Creation

To access certain features, you may create a user account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate and up-to-date information
  • Keep your login credentials confidential
  • Be responsible for all activity under your account

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

3.2 Account Security

You are responsible for safeguarding your account. We are not liable for losses resulting from unauthorized access caused by your failure to secure your credentials.

4. Arcade Scores, XP & Loyalty Program

4.1 Arcade Scores

The Service allows users to:

  • Track arcade game scores
  • Participate in leaderboards
  • Earn achievements or medals

Scores may be displayed publicly under your username.

4.2 Loyalty Program Overview

Our loyalty program lets members earn experience points ("XP"), progress through levels, collect medals, complete quests, and receive rewards (such as free drinks, discounts, or small gifts).

The program is a free, discretionary benefit offered on top of our normal services. It is not a payment instrument, voucher scheme, deposit, or investment of any kind.

4.3 Earning XP

XP may be awarded for, among other things:

  • Visits and qualifying consumption at our venue, recorded by our staff at a high level (e.g. the number of qualifying drinks — detailed purchase histories are not stored)
  • Completing quests or earning medals
  • Participating in events and tournaments, including through our connected platforms (e.g. the tournament platform)
  • A one-time welcome bonus and occasional promotions (e.g. multiplier periods such as "happy hour")

All XP changes are recorded in an internal ledger. XP is awarded at our discretion, and recording a grant may require confirmation by our staff.

4.4 Levels & Perks

Your accumulated XP determines your level. Levels may unlock perks (such as a percentage discount at the venue) and one-time level rewards.

Perks apply only while the program and your account are active and only as described at the relevant time; they are not guaranteed for any particular period.

4.5 Medals & Quests

Medals may be earned automatically for specific actions, awarded by our staff in person (for in-venue achievements), or granted through connected platforms (e.g. tournament participation milestones). Whether the applicable requirements have been met is determined by us, and staff-awarded medals are given at staff discretion.

4.6 Rewards & Redemption

  • Rewards may be granted when you reach a level, earn a medal, or as a gift from us, and may carry an expiry date; expired rewards lapse without compensation.
  • Rewards are redeemable only in person at our venue and must be confirmed and recorded by our staff at the time of redemption.
  • Rewards are personal to your account, are not transferable, have no cash value, and cannot be exchanged for money or credit unless we expressly state otherwise.

4.7 Adjustments & Corrections

We may, acting reasonably and at our sole discretion:

  • Adjust, add, or remove XP (including undoing a recent grant) to correct mistakes, technical errors, mis-recorded entries, or abuse
  • Recalculate levels after an XP adjustment, which may include removing unredeemed rewards and perks attached to levels no longer reached
  • Revoke unredeemed rewards or medals that were granted in error or obtained through cheating, exploits, or a breach of these Terms

Subject to your statutory rights, our determinations regarding XP, levels, medals, quests, and rewards are final.

4.8 Program Changes & No Vested Rights

The loyalty program is provided free of charge and at our discretion. We may at any time:

  • Change how, and in what amounts, XP can be earned
  • Change level thresholds, level names, perks, and level rewards
  • Add, modify, or remove medals, quests, and catalogue rewards (including their validity periods)
  • Suspend or discontinue the program in whole or in part

Changes normally apply prospectively: rewards already granted keep the properties they had at the time of grant, and completed redemptions are unaffected. Where a change would materially and adversely affect benefits you have already earned, we will apply it only with reasonable advance notice, unless the change is required by law or is necessary to address abuse, errors, or security issues (in which case it may take effect immediately).

XP, levels, medals, and unredeemed rewards are not your property, have no monetary value, and do not constitute a claim against us. They exist only within the Service and lapse when your account is deleted or terminated.

5. Venue Tournaments

Our tournament platform (gg.side-quest.bar) supports the tournaments and competitions we host in person at our venue. It is used to register participants, organise matches, and keep track of results and leaderboards — the games themselves are played on-site under the supervision of our staff.

5.1 Access

You sign in to the tournament platform using your existing SideQuest account (single sign-on) — no separate registration is required. The eligibility (Section 2) and account (Section 3) terms apply equally here.

5.2 Participation

For a tournament held at the venue, you may:

  • Register as an individual, or create or join a team
  • Be invited to, or request to join, teams and invite-only tournaments
  • List yourself in the free-agent pool so team captains can recruit you

Team names, results, and standings are displayed publicly under your username, except in private or invite-only tournaments, which are limited to their participants, invitees, and managers.

Team names must not be offensive, abusive, or otherwise inappropriate. We may rename or remove any team name we consider unsuitable, and may remove the team or its members from an event for a serious or repeated breach.

5.3 Results & Supervision

Matches are played in person at the venue. Results are recorded on the platform during the event — often self-reported by participants and confirmed by their opponents — with our staff on hand to oversee play and resolve any disputes. Final standings, medals, and podium placements are determined from the recorded results and are binding once a tournament is closed.

5.4 Fair Play

In addition to the conduct rules in Section 6, you agree not to cheat, collude, or misreport scores, or otherwise undermine the fairness of an event. Because our tournaments are staff-supervised, our decisions on results, eligibility, and conduct are final, and we may correct results, disqualify participants, or adjust the leaderboard and medal tally to address errors or abuse.

5.5 Organisers

We may delegate the running of a specific tournament to organisers — staff or trusted members — who can manage participants, teams, and matches for the tournaments assigned to them. Our administrators may manage all tournaments.

5.6 Changes to Events

We may modify, reschedule, or cancel tournaments, change formats or rules, and add or remove participants where necessary for the fair and orderly running of an event.

5.7 Prizes & Rewards

Any prizes, rewards, or medals are offered entirely at our discretion. We may set, change, or withdraw them at any time, and there is no cash alternative unless we state otherwise.

We reserve the right to disqualify any participant or team, and to withhold or reclaim a prize, where we find cheating, a breach of these Terms, or any conduct that undermines the fairness of an event. Our decisions on prizes, eligibility, and disqualification are final.

Taking part in tournaments and other events may also earn you XP, medals, or participation milestones in our loyalty program. Those benefits are governed by Section 4, including our rights of adjustment and correction.

6. User Content & Conduct

6.1 User Content

You may submit content such as usernames, profile information, scores, or other platform-related data ("User Content").

You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use User Content solely for operating and promoting the Service.

6.2 Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Cheat, manipulate scores, or exploit bugs
  • Harass, abuse, or harm other users or staff
  • Use the Service for unlawful purposes
  • Attempt to interfere with security or infrastructure

Violations may result in account suspension or termination.

7. Physical Venue Rules

When visiting our physical venue:

  • House rules and staff instructions must be followed
  • Video surveillance (CCTV) is in operation for security purposes
  • Misconduct may result in removal from the premises

8. Emails & Communications

8.1 Transactional Emails

By creating an account, you agree to receive transactional emails related to:

  • Account security
  • Service functionality
  • Important updates

8.2 Marketing Emails

Marketing emails are sent only with your explicit opt-in consent.

You may withdraw consent at any time using the unsubscribe link or account settings.

9. Service Availability

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.

We do not guarantee:

  • Continuous availability
  • Error-free operation
  • That features will remain unchanged

We may suspend or restrict access for maintenance, security, or operational reasons.

10. Termination

You may delete your account at any time.

We may suspend or terminate your access if:

  • You violate these Terms
  • Required by law
  • Necessary to protect users, staff, or systems

11. Liability Limitation

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages
  • We are not responsible for loss of data, scores, or rewards
  • Use of the Service is at your own risk

Nothing in these Terms limits liability where such limitation is prohibited under Hungarian or EU law.

12. Privacy

Personal data is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which forms an integral part of these Terms.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time.

If material changes are made:

  • Registered users will be notified by email at least 30 days in advance
  • The updated Terms will be published on our website

Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

14. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of Hungary.

Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Hungary.
